Several Methods Of Processing Abrasives For Resin-grinding Resin Abrasives

Abrasives for the manufacture of resin abrasives do not require high levels of magnetic material, but require strict surface quality for the abrasive particles. Because graphite and dust adhere to the surface of the abrasive, the adhesion between the resin and the abrasive particles can be reduced and weakened, resulting in a reduction in the hardness and strength of the abrasive. In order to improve the binding ability of abrasives and binders, and to improve the strength, toughness, wear resistance, etc. of abrasives, necessary additional treatment should be performed on the abrasives. Abrasive treatment methods include calcination, particle shaping, surface coating, surface corrosion, and the like.


1 calcination of abrasive particles

      Corundum abrasives calcined at 800~1300°C for 2~4h can significantly increase the microhardness, toughness and hydrophilicity of the abrasive particles. After the temperature exceeds 1300°C, the properties of the abrasive grains decrease. The calcination treatment has obvious effects on corundum abrasives, and has no obvious effect on SiC abrasives.

2 use a special process to manufacture abrasive particles

      The corundum method is used to produce corundum abrasives. The frit method has the characteristics of large crystal grains, so that the strength of the abrasive grains increases and the hardness increases. After screening by rolling, the content of basic abrasive grains and the uniformity of strength can be improved, and impurities, dust and coarse particles can be removed.

3 abrasive surface coating treatment

      It is coated with a thin layer of material on the surface of the abrasive and then heat-treated and loosely sieved. Its role is to improve the hydrophilicity of the abrasive surface and increase the surface roughness. Coating methods include metal salt treatment, resin treatment, ceramic liquid-silane treatment, and alkali corrosion treatment. Corundum abrasives vary according to the requirements of the abrasive tool, but use different coating methods to treat the abrasive.

4 Super hard surface plating treatment

      The superhard abrasive surface is plated with a layer of different materials and becomes a new type of abrasive with different properties. The purpose of plating is to give superabrasive particles and special physicochemical properties, thereby improving the performance and use of the abrasive, and increasing the durability of the abrasive.

The coating materials used include copper, nickel, molybdenum, copper alloys, copper-tin-titanium alloys, non-metallic ceramics, titanium carbide, titanium nitride and other refractory hard materials.
